Waters in and around Turkey

Hi everyone. Before I start my blog, I would like to say, there is only 1 more day before I meet my grandparents. This blog is going to be about my favourite kind of trips that we did in Turkiye - playing in the water.

Kusadasi waterpark- I went to the water park during the one week holiday in July. That water park was the only water park I went to in Turkey. I put this first because I had a wonderful and exciting play time there. I was having lots of fun going on the big rides. I felt very happy that my mom planned for us to go to that water park on that day. If we didn't go to that water park that day, I would have never gone to any water parks in Turkey. We didn't go to any water parks in Malatya because they were quite small.

Swimming pool - Every Monday and Wednesday, if the weather is good my father, my sister and I will go swimming in the Inonu University Yuzme Havuzu so that when I go back to Malaysia I won't fall far behind compared to the rest of my team. The water is very cold although the weather was hot and my dad will force my sister and I to swim fast so that we can go back fast. There is a baby pool and an Olympic sized pool. I will swim in the bigger pool because the other pool is too shallow.

The Black Sea - It is said that The Black Sea was initially a lake with fresh water but, when the water level of the Mediterranean Sea rose, it overflowed into The Black Sea. This sea is very special because it is less salty compared to the other seas (I actually tried tasting it).  The Black is connected to the Bosphorus River which is connected to the Marmara Sea which is connected to the Aegean sea which is connected to the Mediterranean Sea.

The box at the side of the picture shows the Bosphorus River up close.

There is a tiny salt water current coming from the Marmara Sea through the Bosphorus River to the Black Sea. There are less than 200 species of animals living in that sea because many sea creatures need very salty water to live in. The biggest mammal living there is the Bottlenose Dolphin.

Bosphorus River- This River is in Istanbul, Turkey.  It is 110m in depth(360ft). It is 31 km in length and it is connected to the Mediterranean Sea. We took a cruise there. We saw many buildings at the river bank. One of the buildings was the Dolmabache Palace.

Aegean Sea- The Aegean Sea is in between Turkey and Greece. I went to the Aegean Sea during my trip to Greece. We went to this sea on our 1st and 2nd day trip in Chios.

The sea behind us is the Aegean Sea.

I went to the beach and played in the sea. I felt the water was quite cold but, I happily played in the water. I also built an ant castle.

Water falls - I also went to some water falls during our trips. They were so nice and magical. We also had tea in one of the rivers. My sister and I were playing while my parents were drinking tea.

We felt the water was very cold. I was shivering while playing but, I was refusing to go out. My sister and I were splashing each other but, we were also accidentally splashing our parents. My dad got a bit wet while my mom had a lot of dots of water on her body. We had lots of fun playing there. I hope you get to experience this type of thing too.

This is the end of my blog. I hope you enjoyed it. The next blog that I am going to do will be about Egypt which is where I will meet my grandparents. Bye!

Hi everyone, before I start my blog I would like to say, there is only 9 more days before I meet my grandparents.

I went to Cesme after Kusadasi. We reached Cesme in the evening because it was a long drive. We settled down a bit before going out for dinner. For dinner we went to a chinese shop. We ate noodles with some vegetables. We ate quickly because the sun was setting, but when we were in the car the time was 8:30pm. So, we then found out that the sunset in Turkey was later than in Malaysia. Usually the sun in Malaysia sets at 6:30-7:00pm but here, the sun sets at 8:30-9:00pm. The time the sun sets is very different in Turkey compared to Malaysia because it is summer now.

We went back to the hotel and fought to go and take a bath since the water was so hot and nice. My sister and I decided to not join the fight so we went and played with our Polly Pockets. It is a miniature toy that you can carry as a bag - I’ll show you an example. We played until our parents were done bathing. After they took their bath one by one which felt like 5 hours (actually it was around 50 minutes) my sister and I finally took our bath and wore our pyjamas. Our parents then decided they wanted to go to the hotels café to drink tea. We didn’t want to go because we thought our parents will let us play iPad but, they insisted we have to follow them. So, after the discussion, we went with our parents to the café. We reached the café but, it was closed. We  My parents were sad they could drink some hot and soothing tea on such a cold windy day. My sister and I didn’t have any emotions because we don’t drink tea. We went back to our room and cleaned up our toys because it was time to sleep.

Two days later, we took a cruise to go to Chios, Greece. We boarded the cruise at 9:00am and left at 9:35am. We took  about half an hour to reach Chios and on the way, in the middle of the sea, my dad got seasick. I had taken some candies from the hotel in Izmir, so I gave him the candy and I also ate one secretly 🤫. My parents still have no idea about it until now.

After some time, my mom said if I saw a whale she will give me RM10000. I was so excited to be able to get this much money, so, I secretly whispered for the Gods to make a whale appear in front of us but, sadly God didn’t make my wish come true.

I even said, "I know whales might be scared of our human voices. God, if you can just show a whale’s tail in front of me and my mom that will be very helpful".

Still, God decided not to grant my wish. When my sister went to the toilet with my mom, I told my dad that how much I begged and pleaded the Gods to make a whale appear. After telling him what I was doing, he told me that the Gods have other things to do and they won’t grant such wishes. After that, I stopped begging and praying to god. We reached Chios by late morning and we had to queue in a long line before we could enter town.

We found our hotel and went there to put our bags. After putting our bags in the room, we went to a shop next to the sea. We ordered chicken spaghetti and fried chicken to eat for lunch. After lunch, we went back to our hotel and rested. In the evening, we went to the beach to play. The water was cold but surprisingly kids and adults were playing in the sea, so I asked my parents whether I could go. Guess what was the answer that my mother said? My mother bravely said ok I can go in to the sea by myself because it is shallow.  I ran into the water although it was cold. I stood there shivering but after some time, I found myself playing in the water. It was so much fun.

My sister was a 'sand girl' - it means she was sticking to the idea of playing in the sand while eating it. After some time, I decided to head back to shore to make a sand castle (remember this word Sand Castle). Instead, my sand castle became an ant castle.

I named it ant castle because there were ants at that beach.
I did my best to make it work, but I had no idea how to make rooms so I just made some domes at the side of the castle so that when some ants arrive they can dig a hole by themselves to go inside the rooms. After making my castle, my parents said it was time to leave because it was late and the sun was setting as we spoke.

We went back to the hotel and ate indomee. My sister actually loved it even though it wasn’t like maggi mee. After dinner, it was bedtime since the next day we had to wake up early to visit some places.

The next day, we took a taxi to an old church, the Nea Moni Monastery. The taxi driver said that the church was very deep inside the mountains as the church holds many ancients treasure and Chios is an island. The intention of building the church very deep inside is so that pirates from the sea won’t have a view of the church or else the church’s treasure will be stolen by the pirates. We took pictures and explored the buildings around the church.

After the church, we went to a city that had houses with patterns on them called Pyrgi. I t was very nice and complicated as the patterns were very hard to draw. We wanted to go for lunch at the shops nearby but, unfortunately the shop didn’t have what we wanted. So we decided to go back to our hotel and eat somewhere near our hotel.

We went to a shop that had seafood like shrimp, prawn, fish, squid and spaghetti. The spaghetti we ordered was Napoliten since the bolognese was beef. We also ordered squid. My sister tried the squid and she loved it. Until now she is still asking for squid sometimes but, we are nowhere near the sea to eat it.

After lunch, we went back to out hotel and on the way back, we saw a ginormous ship. My mouth opened wide when I saw it as it was bigger than an elephant. We walked back home to change to our swim wear. After some time, we went to the beach to chill and cool off because the weather was as hot as a dessert.  We brought our volley ball to play with at the beach.

The first thing I did was to bring the ball into the sea with me. I mostly played in the water that day but, I also went to shore to play with the sand. The sad thing was, my ant castle had been destroyed by the waves that hit the shore like the sand was nothing. My parents took turns to go to the shop to order dinner. We played for a long time until our parents called us to clean up because we wanted to go back to the hotel.

After dinner we went to bed because the next day we had to wake up early to leave Chios. The next day we took a cruise to go back to Cesme since our holidays in Chios had ended.

Shopping Day

Yesterday we went to the Himeji Castle. It was pretty boring because there weren’t any furniture there or any decorations there.      ...
